UKTX Recap, Sunday 8/18: Liam And Stereophonics First-Timers, More

UKTX

Another weekend saw the arrival of Liam Gallagher’s second solo album inch closer. Why Me, Why Not gets here September 20.  No fewer than four new songs have already been introduced ahead of the release, including the latest, “One Of Us“, which arrived last week–just in time for inclusion on Sunday’s show.

Last week also brought the leadoff track from Stereophonics’ new set out this fall. Check out the official video for “Fly LIke An Eagle”:

The ‘Phonics’ eleventh LP, Kind, follows October 25, with frontman Kelly Jones sharing production duties with Rick Rubin protege George Drakoulias (Black Crowes’ debut, Tom Petty’s The Last DJ, others).  Kelly says he’d been suffering a case of writer’s block while touring behind last record Scream Above The Sounds, but managed to hunker down post-tour until a load of songs “just came through me, lyrics just filling up pages, no crossings out, complete songs formed. A bunch of really vulnerable songs about things I hadn’t quite worked out for myself, the songs began to inform me how I was feeling. I just needed to get them out of me.”
