UKTX Recap, Sunday 8/4: A Pair Of My Favorites Return. Video & Playlist Here!

Santa came early to me via Spotify over the weekend, with new tunes from Oxford art-rockers Foals and Manchester giants Elbow both hitting the streaming services.

Foals’ new track “Black Bull” is the first released sounds from Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost, Pt. 2.  Set for an October 18 release and following up its angular, Mercury-nominated Pt. 1 counterpart, Yannis Phillipakis says the new set is “a heavier listen.”  Per the first single’s official video–yep.

And the new Elbow song has set a high bar for anything that might follow in the race for my most-repeated song of 2019.  Guy Garvey was thinking Brexit in the lyric lamenting carrying-on-despite-lost-hope in “Dexter and Sinister” (the title refers to the right and left halves of a shield, in heraldry terms), but the sentiment applied amidst a tragic weekend stateside, too.  The epic 7-minute track precedes Elbow’s eighth album, Giants Of All Sizes, also due October 18th.  The lyric video for “Dexter and Sinister”:
