7 Tips For ACL Music Fest

ACL Festival Flags

The Austin City Limits Music Festival is right around the corner and whether this is your first time going or not, it’s always best to be prepared! Below are 7 tips that may help you as you plan for your fun weekend ahead.

1. Establish a meeting spot with friends/family

Whether you’re traveling in a pack of two or six, it’s easy to get lost in the crowd at ACL Fest. Don’t solely rely on your cellphone to meet back up with your crew because chances are you won’t get great service; Instead, establish a meeting spot that is easy to remember and easy to find for all. Check out the Festival Map to designate a meetup spot.

2. Check the list of allowed & prohibited items

Before making your way out to Zilker, check the list of allowed & prohibited items. This includes looking over the bag policy to make sure yours is within the allowed sizes. There’s nothing worse than having to ditch some of your favorite items on-site or worse…having to go back home to drop them off! Looking over the list may also remind you to bring something you would have otherwise forgotten, like sunscreen or a portable charger.

3. STAY HYDRATED

We know it’s easy to get lost in the moment, but make sure you’re drinking plenty of fluids while you’re out at the fest—and no, just drinking beer does not count. ACL Festival provides water stations all around Zilker Park and allows attendees to bring in empty water bottles or CamelBaks. But remember, NO GLASS. Here are a few more tips for staying safe during the weekend.

4.  Activate your wristband before the fest

Most people forget that they need to activate their wristbands, so here’s your reminder!

5.  Dress accordingly

Don’t be fooled by Texas weather: IT WILL BE HOT! Dress in breathable clothes to avoid sweating your a** off! On another note, wear comfortable shoes! And make sure to avoid open-toe shoes unless you want to get stepped on a lot.

6. Plan your ride ahead of time

Be aware that there is no parking at Zilker Park during ACL Fest, but the festival does provide complimentary shuttles from Republic Square in downtown. Festival attendees also have the option of using a rideshare service, public transportation, biking, scootering, or walking. It might also help to check out traffic and road closures in advance to avoid missing your favorite artists!

7. Discover new music

You may have purchased your wristband to see your favorite artists perform, but why not also take advantage of the opportunity to discover some new music? Look at the lineup and listen to some new artists ahead of time! Then, plan out your schedule so you are ready to go by the time the weekend rolls around!
