In Jason’s words, producer Nick told him yesterday that apologies are unnecessary. After Jason named Nick that “Refuses To Admit He Is Wrong” guy, he got a chance to explain why he thinks denying any wrong-doing is always the best policy. In Nick logic, saying you’re sorry is like parents promising they won’t be mad if you tell the truth, but still getting grounded if you do. When you apologize all you’re really doing is telling a fib to make the other person feel a little better.
Nick admitted he does apologize when he knows he messed up, but when there’s a whole speech and buttering up required he’d rather opt out. Jason clarified he never needed an apology when Nick was That Guy, but just wanted him to recognize the error in his behavior. So now if Nick screws up, his presumed all-time “my bad” can just be considered as his apology.
Jason and Nick clearly don’t speak the same love language, but this must be the key to the everlasting bond between Nick and Dick.
DEB ON THE PHONE
Deb called in to give us a surgery update, and thankfully her hip is still intact. After all of that moaning and grunting from Deb trying to get comfortable in the studio on Monday, her doctor recommended she take time off to heal. Although the doctor initially anticipated a week-long recovery, Deb was eager to get back to work. Yeah, she is known to be one tough chick, but even her doctors admitted she made her comeback way too soon.
Luckily Deb’s mum and step dad are there to administer the meds and her leg elevation situation. At least now she can get comfortable at home, unlike her awkward set up in the studio. When Deb wakes up she usually needs at least two hours for her brain to work, so good think was able to call during the small window where she was actually feeling normal. Maybe it was the meds talking, but she also proclaimed that CPM recovery machine as her one true love. So expect less grunting and more comfort on Monday. Hopefully after some rest she’ll be back for good by next week.
ORANGETHEORY IN STUDIO
Today we welcomed Orangetheory Fitness co-founder and partner, Ellen Latham, alongside regional director of operations, Troy Taylor in studio. Ellen explained how she created the signature workout in 2008, and Orangetheory has been painting the country orange since 2010.
As Jason understood, the workout is based off of the science of the “huff and puff”. Ellen and Troy also explained the meaning of the splat logo shaved into Troy’s head, and how the coined ‘Orange Effect’ concept maximizes the calories burned. You may remember back when producer Nick was doing the Orangetheory Fitness challenge and fell off of a treadmill. To clarify, that isn’t the splat they are referring to.
