Madonna’s attempt to pay tribute to Aretha Franklin at the MTV’s Video Music Awards has some viewers calling her selfish.
Madonna presented the award for video of the year and honored Franklin, who died last week after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Her so-called tribute, although, left some viewers saying her speech was as much an appreciation of herself as it was to the Queen of Soul.
Madonna opened her statement by saying Franklin “changed the course of my life,” but from there, it evolved into a story about Madonna’s journey into the music business.
Check out the video of her speech below.

A WOMAN SPENT TEN HOURS TREADING WATER AFTER FALLING FROM A CRUISE SHIP
A British woman was saved by the Croatian Coast Guard after spending about ten hours treading water overnight in the Adriatic Sea after falling off a cruise ship.
The survivor, Kay Longstaff, told a Croatian news outlet that she fell off the back of the Norwegian Star. Sources say Longstaff lives in Spain, and she also explained, “I was in the water for ten hours, so these wonderful guys rescued me. I’m very lucky to be alive.”
Lovro Orešković, the captain of the ship that rescued her, told local media that it was a “miracle” that she survived.
Orešković also went on to explain that she was clearly fit. He said, “She told us she does yoga, and that as she floated in the sea she sang the whole time so that her body temperature wouldn’t fall, and to stay awake.”
WOMEN’S POCKETS ARE TOO SMALL FOR TODAY’S SMART PHONES
Scientists ran a study to figure out if the pockets on women’s pants are compatible with modern smartphones.
The study analyzed eighty brands of women’s and men’s jeans, and they found women’s pockets are nearly fifty percent shorter, and six-point-five percent more narrow than men’s.
This means, an iPhone X can only fit into about forty-percent of women’s front pockets, and a Samsung Galaxy can only fit into twenty percent.
Although, the study found that for men, the iPhone X fit into one-hundred percent of the jeans in the test, and the Samsung was at ninety-five percent.
They also debunked the gap in sizes for the study by using women and men’s jeans with a thirty-two inch waist.
