Today’s catch comes from Jillian Rose Banks or otherwise known as Banks. She will be releasing a new album on 4/8 called Serpentina, and today’s catch “Holding Back” is the latest single to arrive. This is what she has to say about the new album
“‘Serpentine’ is a word I remembering drawing in journals while I was in school. I’ve always thought it was a beautiful looking word and it felt really good how the letters fell into each other in cursive.
The “a” at the end represents a feminization of that idea—an embodiment of the divine feminine, deeply rooted in the present.
The word SERPENTINA has special meaning to me. Snakes represent rebirth and the shedding of one’s skin. They just move on, and I think that’s what life is about. Changing, transforming, and accepting whatever current form you’re in. It felt like the perfect representation.
This album feels regal to me, but also my most human ever. I hope you feel like we’re sitting next to each other while you listen.”
