More than likely, you’ve heard the song “She’s Kerosene” play on 101X a few times. The single, which was featured on the album Fight the Good Fight, peaked at number 4 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and continues to catch the attention of many with its catchy melody and unique sound. Today, we want to introduce you to the band behind this tune—The Interrupters.
The band is comprised of Aimee Allen (who goes by the moniker Aimee Interrupter) on lead vocals , Jesse Bivona on drums, Kevin Bivona on guitar, and Justin Bivona on bass. As you can probably tell from the last names, 3 out of the 4 members are related. The group met while on tour in 2009 with their own individual projects: The three Bivona brothers were part of the band Telacaster and Aimee was the tour opener, performing as a solo-artist. After meeting, the group started playing and writing songs together which lead to the formation of The Interrupters in 2011. Now—three albums later—the band has been recognized as the first female-fronted Ska band to have an Alternative hit on the radio since No Doubt.
The Interrupters are currently on tour and will be joining 101X on March 3rd for the first 101X Concert Series performance of the year at Mohawk Austin.
