Austin’s first major league franchise, Austin FC, has made a new leap forward in the MLS teams history, signing its very first soccer player. Team officials tweet Rodney Redes, the 20-year-old forward from Paraguay is expected to land in Austin at the beginning of the year and represent the Verde and Black in its inaugural season. Redes currently plays for Club Guaraní of Paraguay’s Primera División. The transfer fee is said to cost $2.75 million.
