New Music Friday Ft. Silversun Pickups, The Raconteurs, and Cage The Elephant

Brian Aubert of Silversun Pickups

Silversun Pickups

Silversun Pickups have just announced their first album in four years titled Widow’s Weeds. This will be the band’s fifth full-length studio album and is a follow-up to 2014’s Better Nature.  To celebrate, the band released its first single off of the new album, “It Doesn’t Matter Why.” Listen below.

The Raconteurs

The Raconteurs are back with a cover of the Donovan song “Hey Gyp (Dig the Slowness) in anticipation of the June release of their first album in 11 years, Help Us Stranger. Recently, The Raconteurs announced that they are hitting the road this summer, but there are no Texas stops mentioned on their schedule. There is, however, a gap between September 13 and October 12, so could this mean that they may make a surprise appearance at ACL? Hmmm.

Cage The Elephant

We are exactly one week away from the arrival of Cage The Elephant’s latest album, Social Cues—The band’s first studio album since the 2015 release of Tell Me I’m Pretty. In anticipation of the release, Cage shared a brand new song with us titled “Goodbye.” The track is about Matt Shultz’s recent experiences with death and divorce but overall it is meant to be taken as a positive and uplifting song, rather than a sad one. Listen to the track below.
