Monday morning, The Killers shared a new politically-charged track titled “Land of the Free,” which uses irony to address America’s nickname during a time where gun violence, racism, and ongoing tragedy have plagued the nation. The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers took to Instagram to share where the inspiration for the single came from: following the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012, Flowers took to self-educating and soul searching, which lead to the creation of the song. You can read the whole post below.
This is the Killers’ first song since the release of their 2017 LP Wonderful, Wonderful. The band is also planning to release a new album in 2020, but nothing has been confirmed.
