The radio overlords demand that if we take a vacation we blog our adventures to appease the Internet gods. So I offer up to them and you, a recap of my Vegas Bachelor Party Vacation. Get more on my Insta story titled Vegas XV.
My friend John (you might know him form Homegrown Live) is getting married soon so we decided to turn one of our semi-annual Vegas trips into a bachelor party blowout. We all met at the airport for drinks early Friday afternoon and flew out just before the Great Storm of 2020™ hit.
We arrived in Vegas with a limo waiting to pick us up. Once at the MGM Grand we were spirited away by our butler (yeah, we had a butler and yes get ready for more humble brags) to our penthouse in the skylofts. Our two-story room was insane and came equipped with a full bar, pool table, and steam rooms.
After making short work of our first bottle, we headed to the sports book to make bets on football. Once that money was wasted, we got a car to Fremont Street to dine at our favorite restaurant: Tony Roma’s. After eating some cheap steak and lobster we hit up the Golden Nugget to play the quarter bet horse racing Sigma Derby (only two machines exist). After an hour or so I hit on a 200-1 horse and cashed about $400. The attention attraced a few vagrants so I tried to play it cool but my friends, unaware I was getting hit up for cash, made it worse by cheering and letting everyone know how much I won. We went to another casino where I promptly lost all my winnings at a black-jack table. At some point we went back to the MGM Grand which I do not exactly recall how.
Saturday we woke up and were escorted to breakfast at the MGMG Grand’s secret mansion. Yes, they have a secret mansion for the whales and our friend Brad (who set everything up) really had to pull some strings to get us in. After some more room drinks we hit the strip and walked to another one of our favorite spots: The Stage Door. That bar is filled with video poker machines, cheap booze and even cheaper hotdogs. Pro-tip: do not stay past dark.
The gang returned to the room and then made plans to head to REDACTED and suddenly it was 430am and we had to find a way back home.
Sunday was spent recovering and watching both playoff games. At some point our butler brought in an entire buffet filled with pizza, wings, and more snacks. We drank, ate, munched on some edibles and eventually decided to hit the steam room and then a casino.
Looking for some cheap black jack tables, we ended up at the hotel formerly known as Hooters. I kept hitting the side bet and went up big before eventually losing all my money. We stayed up long enough to wish our bachelor (who had a 545am flight goodbye) and crashed hard. It was a fun trip and I still haven’t recovered.
