Weekend One of ACL Fest is in the books and the gang were on site both in the park and backstage covering all the happenings here is our take on the first three days from Zilker Park:
CJ Morgan
Favorite show: weekend one, for me, is always a “scouting” mission of sorts to plan what I really want to dig in for next week. Broadcasting means I can’t really get out into the park until the later acts so I miss sooo much. However, I did get to spend some time at the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Odesza Sunday.
Best moment: Probably watching Hozier build his mini-figure before our interview and spending so much time playing with LEGO that his publicist was getting annoyed with us.
What did you eat? Maaaan I had a Sonoran hot dog on Friday, then tostadas and parmesan tater tots on Sunday that saved my life because they were the only thing I ate that day. Totally devoured them like a starving hog in the wild. Pretty embarrassing but worth it!
Worst moment: Emily and I took goofy band pictures with nose rings and I accidently ripped mine out and had a nose bleed for an hour. Everyone probably thought I was coked up or just a dork with allergies.
Best dressed at the fest: Not our promo team or Spencer. Work out shorts should never be worn outside of home or the gym. Put some effing pants on or at least jorts!
FOMO moment: I left 30 Seconds to Mars before McCaughey was called up on stage.
Next week I want to: See more shows and stay for more than one song. Amongst the artists we interviewed, I want to get up front for M83, go to the Walkmen and Alanis. Actually see ALOT of shows.

Favorite show: This weekend I took it easy because most of my friends will be around for Weekend 2. That didn’t stop me from having a good time though! I took this opportunity to go see the shows that I wanted to see. The Mars Volta was at the top of my list, so I was thrilled to learn that they were performing right next to the media area so I didn’t have to walk all the way across the park. Laziness wins this time!
Best moment: Not to copy CJ but for SURE meeting Hozier. He is such a gentle giant. I normally never do this, but I asked him to sign something for my best friend and he was so absolutely sweet about it! When my best friend and I first moved to ATX we tried going to two of his shows and couldn’t ever get tickets. Now, here I am 7 years later making Legos with the man! What a surreal moment.
What did you eat? I will be completely honest… not enough. For any big busy events like this (ACL, SXSW, etc.) I run on PURE ADRENALINE. The time goes by so fast and I am a terrible human being and forget to feed myself!!! Thankfully, my friends and co-workers were nice enough to offer me their leftovers so I snacked on some perfectly salted fries, a crazy kimchi hot dog, and some absolutely delicious pizza.
Worst moment: When the pants that I wore on day 1 were too tight and it made me nauseous… oops!
Best dressed at the fest: Those girls that I saw who were CJ’s friends. They were dressed up in all rainbow and had giant feather fans. Incredible!
FOMO moment: Missing Noah Kahan singing with Mumford and Sons 🙁
Next week I want to: Try to see as much music as POSSIBLE!
