Gel Pellet Water Guns

gel blaster water guns

The latest impulsive purchase on the show was a pair of water guns that shoot gel pellets instead of water. Naturally, we were excited to try them out and after a full week of play, we are ready to give our review of the new invention.

PROS

  • The gel ammo is cheaper than nerf, airsoft and other toy pellet guns plus they dissolve meaning no clean up.
  • They are loud and shoot really well.
  • Battery pack magazines last a long time and charge easily with USB.
  • They look cool and are ridiculously over the top.
  • Gel beads can last for months after soaking if stored properly – I recommend putting them in Tupperware and hiding in the back of the fridge.

CONS

  • It takes four hours to make the gel beads (instructions even recommend soaking them overnight) which means if you or the kids want to play NOW you hopefully have already prepared your ammo.
  • These are more mini paintball guns that squirt guns and yes, they sting. If you want to have a water party and get wet these are not for that.
  • They seem fragile and too much roughhousing might break them.
  • They jam a lot, like a paintball gun.
