A new project has emerged out of the pandemic, and it’s called Marriage At Nevers. Led by Shawn Jones (The Lovely Sparrows) and Derek Van Gieson (Witch Watch, Murder Shoes, An Atlas For Disappearing Youth), the band has “tracks cuts by loners, using methods new and old, casually pointing out the stinging truths staring us down with each sunset: we’re all monsters and ghosts are real.” In other words, if you like spooky-sounding tunes and the likes of Big Thief, Broken Social Scene and/or Weyes Blood, then you’re going to dig Marriage At Nevers.
The band’s self titled debut, which features vocal work from Dana Falconberry and Doris Blade, will be out on March 19!
As for today, you can check out the premiere of the video for their first single, Breakfast Wine. It’s an animated affair (fully done by Van Gieson) that’s pretty rad.
