Arctic Monkeys Perform “The Ultracheese” on Colbert

Alex Turner of the band Arctic Monkeys performs during the 12th Alive Music Festival in Oeiras, near Lisbon on July 12, 2018

As if Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino wasn’t a far enough departure from the Arctic Monkeys’ usual sound, Alex Turner seems to be getting experimental with his look as well. Monday night, the band stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform the closing track from Tranquility Base, “The Ultracheese.”

Here, the Arctic Monkeys frontman unveiled his newly shaved head to the public. Fans have speculated that the new Turner aesthetic may be a precursor to their next music video, since the video for the album’s title-bearing track was released just this week.

Turner’s new look is only fitting for the band’s new Kubrick-esque sci-fi lounge vibe– and his hair does seem to change with every new album. We don’t know where Turner’s ever changing mop will take us next, but time could allow for a return to his 2006 shaggy-short hair of the Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not era. Fans will just have to Suck It and See.

Just in case you’ve missed it, the band also released the video for “Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino” yesterday. Watch it below.
