This one’s weird, but great. I was a super picky kid. Hated any breakfast food, but my father sometimes had me in tow to his job at the shipyard outside of Brownsville, TX. He’d stop at the 802 Cafe and I’d complain that nothing looked good. Once, the cook there whipped this up for me and I’ve been loving since. Hot flour tortilla rubbed down with butter. Little salt. Then peanut butter. It’s sounds weird af, but it’s a dope breakfast.

This was a festival-grounds taco and honestly it was kinda trash. Overcooked fried chicken and fried avocado and some weird warm sauce. But, I was starving so it was perfect. “The worst [taco] I ever had was still pretty good.” – my dad, except he said it about beer.

Beat up from ACL fest. Starving. Jefe’s @ Cameron/290 is always a good grab. All the tacos are slammers but the Bistec and Suadero are standouts. *If you’re used to gringo style barbacoa, heads up: Jefe’s is real barbacoa with lips and cheeks – the sight is off putting for some. It’s still great, so just close your eyes.

Salsa roja is not to be missed. V spicy. The green is milder, but just OK. They come wrapped like heroin condoms, so that’s cool.

Took all day, but worth it. Slow smoked chuck. Salsa’d two ways: chili arbol & chipotle x cocoa. Long wait. V worth it.
