In 2018, do you still have to ask a woman’s father for permission to marry her?
The other day Jason was talking to a friend and she was explaining that the only thing missing in the next step of her relationship is her boyfriend asking her dad for her hand in marriage. He thought this sounded a little outdated, but when he went to another female friend she confirmed and said of course you have to ask. Deb added that you don’t necessarily have to, but old fashioned dads see it as a sign of respect. Is opting out unacceptable even though the male or boyfriend is who makes the decision? In the case of Jason’s ex-marriage, he didn’t ask her father for her hand in marriage. Although the Dickman didn’t have the best relationship with his father in law at the time, their initial union wasn’t traditional so he didn’t even think about asking. Ultimately Deb, Jason and producer Nick agree it all comes down to respect and when asking it’s more of a blessing then permission.
DEB’S DIARY
After today’s show Blue is going in to the vet so everyone, please keep your fingers crossed for Blue. When Blue boy was originally diagnosed with cancer, Deb learned that cancer and his spine injuries were different, so today he is getting his back operated on. If you remember, Blue hasn’t been able to walk on his back leg, so to improve his quality of life, the surgery today is going to fix his nerve issue, wobbly spine and herniated disk. The vet has also been going back and forth to choose the best procedure for Blue, so Deb is nervous but hopefully this can get him walking again.
I LOVE YOU CALL
Today we called Good Enough to Eat in New York, New York to see if Deb can get them to say I Love You Too. Deb started off the conversation by venting to Good Enough to Eat about how she just got off of work from a late night shift and although it was early, she plans to come in for some breakfast and alcohol. Good Enough to Eat was happy to help Deb and her friend unwind from work, but too bad they had no love for Deb today.
