Central Texas Food Bank and Capital Metro Offer Assistance For Federal Employees

Due to the special circumstances resulting from the federal government shutdown, Central Texas Food Bank is preparing for a possible influx of furloughed federal workers seeking food.

To help out during this time, Central Texas Food Bank will be holding special food distribution and a resource fair open to all people in need of food on Wednesday, January 16th from 9AM to 5PM. The food bank is located at 6500 Metropolis Drive, Austin, 78744.

Federal government workers will also be able to use Capital Metro’s services for free for the duration of the government shutdown.

All federal workers will have to do to get their free ride is show their federal government employee ID to the bus operator or fare inspector. The free rides go for all Capital Metro services, including MetroRail and MetroAccess.
