Deb’s aversion to highway food is well known around these parts, but is she perhaps starting to come around to it? Her boyfriend is a big fan of the steaks at the Texas Roadhouse, but doesn’t get to go very often. So when they happened to be up in Northwest Austin the other day, Deb decided to make the ultimate sacrifice and have lunch at the Texas Roadhouse in that part of town. Lo and behold she actually enjoyed it. She didn’t realize it was one of those places where you can eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. She also was a fan of their fresh baked rolls and the cinnamon butter. She was even impressed with the quality of their salmon. Enough so, that she brought her leftovers to work today for lunch. She’s still on the record as not eating highway food, but congratulations Texas Roadhouse, you are officially better than that, according to Deb O’Keefe.
The Avengers Continue To Assemble All The Money
“Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame” continued to dominate the box office. It passed “Titanic” to become the second-highest grossing movie of all time with $2.19 billion in just 11 days. In comparison, the Seth Rogan and Charlize Theron romantic comedy “The Long Shot” barely cleared $10 million in its opening weekend. For what it’s worth, both Jason and Producer Nick saw it during SXSW and recommend it.
Adam Sandler Returns To SNL
Adam Sandler was the host of Saturday Night Live this weekend and everyone seems to be eager to revel in the nostalgia. He opened the show with a song about how he was fired from the show back in the day. He reprised his Opera Man character for Weekend Update, and even had Kristen Wiig and Jimmy Fallon show up to commemorate the occasion. But if you’re an old-school fan the highlight of the show had to be his song tribute to Chris Farley.
Who Knew Westeros Had A Starbucks
Apparently the lesson from Sunday’s Game Of Thrones is that when you turn up the brightness you can see all kinds of things you missed before. Like what appears to be a Starbuck’s cup next to Daenerys. At least the Mother of Dragons doesn’t have worry about burning her mouth.
Kentucky Derby Chaos
This year’s Kentucky Derby was extra dramatic this year, and not in a good way. Maximum Security appeared to easily cross the finish line ahead of the pack, but was disqualified upon further review. Longshot contender Country House was declared the winner and now everyone is outraged. Including this horse-racing fan.
The Kentucky Derby decision was not a good one. It was a rough & tumble race on a wet and sloppy track, actually, a beautiful thing to watch. Only in these days of political correctness could such an overturn occur. The best horse did NOT win the Kentucky Derby – not even close!
