In effort to reduce concussive impacts in practice, the University of Texas Longhorns are now requiring offensive linemen, defensive linemen, and linebackers to wear a protective padding sleeve on the outside of helmets.
Head coach Tom Herman said more schools are going to these pads in practice to soften some of the repetitive blows.
According to the supplier, the padded caps are supposed to reduce the force of impact.

TRUMP INSULTS LEBRON JAMES’S INTELLIGENCE
President Donald Trump took a shot at Los Angeles Lakers LeBron James on Twitter.
James was interviewed after his LeBron James Family Foundation and the Akron Public Schools launched a new elementary school for at-risk children in his hometown.
In the interview, James discussed the impact of sports and how it brings people together, and he said he felt Trump was using sports to divide them.
Trump tweeted the insult after the interview aired and in the tweet, he also made a point to take sides in the LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan debate, saying, “I like Mike!”.
Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!
