Longhorns Select Sam Ehlinger As Starting Quarterback

Sam Ehlinger #11 of the Texas Longhorns

Sam Ehlinger will be the University of Texas’ starting quarterback when the Longhorns open at Maryland this upcoming season, coach Tom Herman announced on Monday.

Ehlinger, a sophomore, beat out junior Shane Buechele for the position.

While sharing the role as a true freshman with Buechele last season, Ehlinger passed for almost two-thousand yards and completed over half of his passes. He also threw eleven touchdowns and six interceptions.

Ehlinger had several notable moments in 2017, but he also battled concussion issues that caused him to miss two games.

COLTS’ ANDREW LUCK’S SHOULDER IS OKAY AFTER TERRELL SUGGS SACK

Quarterback Andrew Luck #12 of the Indianapolis Colts

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs chased down Andrew Luck during the preseason match, and pulled Luck to the ground on his surgically repaired right shoulder.

Although luck went down on his previously injured right elbow on the play, he said he was “sort of happy to get sacked by Suggs”. He explained, how he landed reminded him of his 2015 injury, although he was glad he didn’t feel anything.

The game necessarily wasn’t a positive for Luck. The Colts faced a 19-20 loss to the Ravens, although Monday’s game was another step in recovery for the quarterback who missed all of last season due to his shoulder injury.
