Thursday, July 1st was a historical day for Austin and the city’s first professional sports team. Austin FC had yet to score inside Q2 stadium until Jon Gallagher broke the deadlock at 28′. The stadium erupted in loud cheers and beer showers as Gallagher made history. A few minutes later Diego Fagúndez kept the fans roaring with another ball placed neatly in the back of the net. Portland went on to get one back just before the halfway mark but Austin came roaring out in the second en route to a 4-1 thrashing.
