Central Texas Coronavirus Update for June 2

BASTROP COUNTY:

Three people have passed away in Bastrop County due to complications from COVID-19.  There has been a total of 211 cases confirmed, with 85 of those now classified as recoveries. The bulk of Bastrop County’s cases have been found in unincorporated areas.  Elgin has 63 cases, which is the most of any city in the county.


COMAL COUNTY:

The total number of coronavirus cases confirmed within Comal County has climbed up to an even 100 as of June 2. But most of those are not active cases. 78 of the 100 have already recovered from their illness. About 4-percent of patients have needed hospitalization since the outbreak began.  Seven have died.


HAYS COUNTY:

COVID-19 recoveries in Hays County are still steadily rising, now up to 196.  There are 152 active cases but only six of those patients are currently in the hospital.  Since March, only 32 of the confirmed cases in Hays County have actually required hospitalization.  Five people have died.


TRAVIS COUNTY:

Coronavirus hospitalizations have shot back up into the 90s as of Tuesday morning.  Austin Public Health says 97 patients in Travis County are currently hospitalized for COVID-19.  93 have died but 1217 have recovered.  Since the first confirmed case in March, 3360 cases have been found.


WILLIAMSON COUNTY:

Williamson County’s coronavirus numbers are teetering on another positive milestone. By the end of Tuesday, it’s believed more than 400 people will have recovered from the virus.  As of Tuesday morning, there are 399 recoveries, 206 active cases, and 25 deaths.  Ten people are in the hospital, but the county’s hospital system still has 55-percent available bed space.
