Coronavirus Cases Still Rising in Central Texas

The number of new COVID-19 cases saw another significant spike over the weekend, jumping from 642 on Friday to 774 as of Monday morning.  Nine deaths have now been reported, but 140 of those cases have since made recoveries.  While the elderly remain most at-risk for the impact of the virus, people ages 20-39 continue to comprise the majority of all cases in Austin and Travis County with a total of 335.

117 cases are now reported in Williamson County, as well as four deaths.  Most of those cases have already recovered, with health officials reporting 61.

Hays County has not seen any deaths since the outbreak began in Central Texas, but its total number of cases is now the third-most in the area at 86.  24 recoveries have been reported.

Bastrop County, which has yet to offer recovery numbers, says it’s total stands at 27 as of Monday morning and one death.

Statewide, there are 13,484 cases with 271 deaths.  2014 patients have recovered.
