Viva la Vida Parade and Festival
OCT 26 | 12 PM – 6 PM |
4th & Congress Avenue
Austin’s largest and longest-running Day of the Dead festival is back again for its 36th year. The day includes a parade in the morning followed by the festival to ensure the celebration continues throughout the afternoon.
Dia de Los Muertos is an annual celebration that takes place on November 1st and 2nd. It’s a time when family and friends gather together to remember those they have lost. Not in mourning but in celebration! In Austin, Mexic-Arte Museum has continued some of these traditions, transformed others, and created new expressions to produce today’s Viva la Vida Festival!
The parade will begin on 6th Street between I-35 Southbound Frontage Road and Red River Street, then travel west on 6th Street to the festival location at 4th and Congress.
The festival is full of colors, music, food, art, and so much more. There are four main parts to the festival; Mariposa Central, Fantastical Makers Plaza, Muertos Mercado, and Lowriders Lane. Each section has exciting ways to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos.
