As of Monday morning, Austin Public Health is reporting 79 cases of COVID-19, and that number will continue to climb as more testing capabilities are added, and test sites are put into operation.

“We still have to prioritize those who are at higher risk, those who are hospitalized, our health care workers, and our first responders because it’s important for public health and for our infrastructure,” says Austin-Travis County Interim Health Authority Dr. Mark Escott.

As the number continues to rise in Travis County, officials say sustained person-to-person spread is underway.

The first testing site for COVID-19 in Austin and Travis County is now up and running.  Only people who have been referred to the site will be tested.  Those without a referral will be directed toward the appropriate process.  People with certain symptoms, or those in the high-risk category, will be given priority.

In Williamson County, health officials are reporting nine cases.  The latest confirmation is a woman in her 20s with an unknown exposure history.

That brings the total number between both Williamson and Travis County to 88.

Across the state, there are now more than 330 confirmations and six deaths.
