Nothing to do this weekend? I’ve got you covered. After living in the Austin area for 18 years, I know a thing or two about the capital of live music. Scroll for some of the coolest events going on in Austin from a self-proclaimed cool kid.

Friday, February 24th

Twin Peaks costume party at Hotel Vegas event flyer

Twin Peaks Day Costume Party | 9:30 p.m. | Hotel Vegas

Head out to Hotel Vegas this Friday to a 21+ event both wonderful, and strange. It’s the Twin Peaks Day costume party. Celebrate the eery, eclectic series by showing up in your best costume that pays homage to the show. Enjoy live performances from artists alexalone, Flyer Club, Exercise and more. Aside from participating in the night’s costume contest, attendees can shop local vendors, grab Twin Peaks-themed cocktails and take insta-worthy pics in the photo booth. Plus, come early for a chance at some free coffee and donuts! Event tickets are $12. You can RSVP here.

Nosferatu Festival | 8 p.m. | Kick Butt Coffee

Gore Magazine presents the 5th annual Nosferatu Festival! Get ghoulish this weekend and head out to Kick Butt Coffee for a scary-good time. Celebrate the 101-year anniversary of the first screening of Nosferatu. The event is an all-weekend endeavor, but Friday is the initial kick-off party. You can enjoy live music, merch and movie screenings, all in the name of the great vampire legend. You can find tickets here.

Saturday, February 25th

Austin FC | 7:30pm | Q2 Stadium

Austin FC announced the schedule for the Club’s 2023 Preseason Presented by St. David’s HealthCare, in preparation for the Club’s 2023 Major League Soccer season which kicks off at home against St. Louis CITY SC on Saturday, Feb. 25. For ticket and more info check here.

 

5K Run For Cider | 11 a.m. | Fairweather Cider Co.

Get your body moving with a yummy alcoholic beverage as your reward. Join the Brewery Running Series at Fairweather Cider Co. this Saturday for a 5K fun run. After you cross that finish line, grab a craft cider from Fairweather, your choice of a seasonal swag item, and access to other fun run events. Fun run events include games, live music, giveaways and more. Run (and drink) for a cause! A portion of event proceeds will go to local nonprofits, including Central Texas Food Bank. Emo Bingo (2-year anniversary party) | 8 p.m. | The Courtyard

It’s not a phase, mom! Ugh, she never gets it *flips emo bang out of face*. Prove your parents wrong and show them it was never a phase with Emo Bingo. This time it’s the 2-year anniversary edition! In addition to bingo, the event will have tarot readings, flash tattoos, vintage clothing and a photo booth for those throwback-themed pics. Feeling lucky? Cupid’s Undie Run | 12 p.m. | Kung Fu Saloon

If cider isn’t exactly your thing, but you wanna get into some light running this weekend, look no further than the Cupid’s Undie Run. Participants are encouraged to dress in less for this fun run. Run in your undies, and in cupid’s favorite colors, pink and red. Proceeds benefit research for neurofibromatosis through the Children’s Tumor Foundation. Runners can expect the run to be around a mile, with drinking and dancing to start before the race. Find tickets, and the Facebook invite, here.

Sunday, February 26th

Austin Music Awards | 6:30 p.m. | Mohawk

What better way to celebrate the music capital in all its glory than by attending the Austin Music Awards? The AMAs is a curation of the city’s up-and-coming bands of the year. Voting polls are brought to the public to decide what bands are awarded. Artists Die Spitz, Blackchyl and Jackie Vensons are some of the many local artist up for nomination for awards this year. The Austin Music Awards are put on by Austin’s leading news and media outlet, The Austin Chronicle. This year, all of the ticket proceeds for the event will go to the sims foundation. Tipsy Canvas | 11:30 a.m. | Black Star Co-op & Brewery

Elevate your Sunday Brunch experience with Tipsy Canvas at Black Star Co-op & Brewery. For $25 a person, Black Star will provide 2 canvases, paints, a live still AND two mimosas. Along with tasty mimosas, Black Star offers a large menu that includes meat-alternative meals! What’s better than a Sunday afternoon filled with good food, good drinks and good art? Nothing. Uncommon Flea | 10 a.m. | Uncommon OBJECTS

Find exactly what you’re looking for, and then some at the Uncommon Flea this Sunday. With over 30 vendors participating in the event, you’ll be sure to find some treasures. The flea is held in the backyard of Uncommon OBJECTS, will have music, and is dog-friendly.
